Plastic surgery in Colombia covers both surgical procedures — liposuction, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), breast augmentation or lift, BBL, facelift and rhinoplasty — and non-surgical aesthetic medicine such as Botox, fillers and skin tightening. In Medellín, these are performed by surgeons certified by the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery (SCCP) in accredited clinics, typically costing 50–70% less than in the U.S. Most patients stay 7–12 days for surgery and follow-up.

What's available

Surgical and non-surgical procedures we coordinate

Colombia — and Medellín in particular — is one of the world's most established destinations for cosmetic and plastic surgery. HealthBridge coordinates the full spectrum of procedures with board-certified specialists, matching each patient to the surgeon whose subspecialty and aesthetic style fit their goals.

On the body, the most requested procedures are liposuction and high-definition liposculpture, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), the Brazilian butt lift (BBL) with fat transfer, and the "mommy makeover" — a combination of abdominoplasty, liposuction and breast surgery designed to restore the body after pregnancy. Breast procedures include augmentation with implants, breast lift (mastopexy), reduction and revision surgery. On the face, surgeons perform rhinoplasty, facelift and neck lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and otoplasty.

Alongside surgery, our medical director Dra. Olga González leads a dedicated aesthetic medicine program: botulinum toxin (Botox), dermal fillers, biostimulators, skin-tightening with focused ultrasound (Ultraformer), mesotherapy and medical-grade skincare. Many international patients combine a non-surgical refresh with their surgical plan, or choose aesthetic medicine alone for a shorter, downtime-free trip.

Why Colombia

World-class plastic surgery at a fraction of the cost

Colombian plastic surgeons are internationally respected, and the country's training pathway is rigorous. A board-certified plastic surgeon in Colombia completes medical school, a full general-surgery foundation and a multi-year plastic-surgery residency, and is certified by the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery (SCCP) — the credential we verify before recommending any surgeon. Medellín's high surgical volume means its specialists are experienced and its clinics are equipped with modern technology.

The reason the same quality costs so much less is straightforward: lower overheads, staffing and facility costs in Colombia, not lower standards. A mommy makeover that can exceed $20,000 in the United States may start near $6,500 in Medellín; liposuction that runs $8,000–$11,000 at home is a fraction of that here. Even after international flights and a comfortable hotel, the great majority of patients save well over half the total cost.

Just as important is safety. We work only with accredited surgical facilities, insist on a board-certified anesthesiologist for every operation under general anesthesia, and require appropriate pre-operative clearance. Cosmetic surgery is real surgery, and the difference between a good outcome and a bad one is almost always the team and the facility — which is exactly what HealthBridge vets on your behalf.

Are you a candidate

Who is a good candidate for surgery abroad?

Good candidates are adults in generally good health with realistic goals and a stable weight. For body-contouring procedures like abdominoplasty and liposuction, being close to your target weight produces the best, most durable results. If you smoke, you'll be asked to stop several weeks before and after surgery, because nicotine significantly impairs healing.

Certain conditions — uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension, clotting disorders, some heart and lung conditions, or a BMI above a safe surgical threshold — may need to be optimized first, or may make a particular procedure inadvisable. This is why every plan begins with an honest medical review. If surgery isn't the right or safe choice for you, we'll tell you, and often there is an excellent non-surgical alternative.

Travel itself is part of candidacy. After major body surgery you'll need to avoid long-haul flights for a period your surgeon will define (often 7–10 days), to reduce the risk of blood clots. We build your stay around that window so you fly home only when it's safe.

Safety & recovery

Recovering comfortably in Medellín

Medellín's mild, spring-like climate makes it a genuinely pleasant place to recover. Most patients stay in El Poblado — a safe, walkable district of hotels, restaurants and pharmacies — close to the clinics. After body-contouring surgery you'll wear a compression garment, attend lymphatic-drainage massage sessions (often included or easy to arrange), and see your surgeon for scheduled check-ups before you travel.

A typical itinerary allows a day or two to settle in and complete pre-operative labs, surgery, then a week or more of monitored recovery with post-op visits. Drains, if used, are removed before you leave, and you receive written aftercare instructions in your language. For non-surgical aesthetic-medicine treatments there is little to no downtime, and many can be done within a few days.

Throughout, you have one bilingual point of contact. If a question or concern comes up at 9 p.m., you message us — not an answering service in another country. That continuity is the heart of what HealthBridge provides.

Costs

What plastic surgery costs in Colombia

Prices depend on the procedure, its complexity and whether treatments are combined. As a reference, surgical procedures at the clinics we work with start around $3,500 USD, with combined procedures such as a mommy makeover starting higher. Non-surgical aesthetic medicine (Botox, fillers, skin tightening) starts at a few hundred dollars per session.

Your quote is all-inclusive of the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, the accredited facility and standard post-operative follow-up during your stay; we're transparent about what is and isn't included, in USD, before you book anything. Because a precise quote depends on your anatomy and goals, the accurate figure comes after a free assessment — send photos and a short history by WhatsApp and we'll respond promptly.

Planning your trip

From first message to flying home

Planning surgery abroad is far less daunting with one team coordinating the details. It begins with a free WhatsApp assessment: you share photos and a short medical history, and we respond with honest guidance, a recommended approach and an all-inclusive quote in USD. Nothing is booked until you're comfortable and your questions are answered.

Once you decide to proceed, we align your surgery date with affordable, convenient flights — Medellín's MDE airport receives direct routes from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Houston and Panama City, typically a 3–5 hour hop. We help you choose a hotel in El Poblado near the clinic, arrange airport transfers, and coordinate your pre-operative labs so the surgical day runs smoothly. A companion is welcome, and we can suggest comfortable recovery-friendly accommodation for two.

During your stay you'll have a bilingual coordinator on call, scheduled post-operative visits, and help with anything from pharmacy runs to lymphatic-drainage massage. Before you fly home, your surgeon clears you for travel and you leave with written aftercare instructions. After you land, we stay reachable for follow-up questions — because good care doesn't end at the boarding gate. From your first message to your final check-in, you deal with one trusted bilingual team rather than a chain of strangers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does plastic surgery cost in Colombia compared to the U.S.?
Surgical procedures start around $3,500 USD and combined procedures (like a mommy makeover) start near $6,500 — typically 50–70% less than U.S. prices, even after flights and hotel. You receive an all-inclusive quote in USD after a free assessment.
Are Colombian plastic surgeons qualified and safe?
Yes. We work only with surgeons certified by the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery (SCCP), operating in accredited facilities with a board-certified anesthesiologist. We verify credentials and outcomes before recommending anyone.
How long do I need to stay in Medellín?
Plan for about 7–12 days for most surgical procedures, to allow surgery, monitored recovery and post-op visits before you fly home. Non-surgical aesthetic medicine can be done in a few days.
When can I fly home after surgery?
Your surgeon will define a safe window — often 7–10 days after major body surgery — to reduce the risk of blood clots. We build your stay around that so you only travel when it's safe.
Can I combine procedures in one trip?
Often yes — combinations such as a mommy makeover are common and can be safely staged in a single session by an experienced team. Your surgeon confirms what can be safely combined for your case.
What non-surgical options are available?
Our medical director Dra. Olga González offers Botox, dermal fillers, biostimulators, focused-ultrasound skin tightening (Ultraformer), mesotherapy and medical skincare — ideal for a refresh with little to no downtime. See our regenerative medicine page too.
Is Medellín safe for recovery?
Yes. Most patients stay in El Poblado, a safe, upscale, walkable district near the clinics. We coordinate hotels, transfers and bilingual support so recovery is comfortable and well-monitored.
How do I get a quote?
Send a short medical history and photos by WhatsApp. We review your case with our surgeons and send a personalized, all-inclusive plan and quote in USD — free and with no obligation.
